Upon moving to New York to study photography, I came in touch with the subculture of photographing in the subway. I was fascinated by it, as many before me have been. The psychological aspect of sharing a confined space for a certain amount of time with unknown people was my main interest. That brought me to the elevator, also a very common way of transportation in New York and in a way even more psychological charged. The series ‘in the elevator’ is a small study on the subject.
